Your tooth is a sum of many parts. The white, visible tooth structure above the gum line is the crown. While the protective tooth enamel is stronger than skeletal bone, it may become damaged by wear and tear, fractures, trauma, and progressive conditions like dental (tooth) decay. When this happens, the innermost tooth structure may be vulnerable to further damage. The structural integrity of the tooth may be threatened.
